The benefits of standardization

Every investment in international standardization pays off twenty-five-fold.

For various reasons, it is a strategically significant decision to participate in the process of standardization. To remain viable in the long run, it is not sufficient for a company to simply apply the standards available. What is called for is active involvement in the drafting of standards, e.g. in an SNV technical committee (TCTC
Technical Committee
). There are two fundamental benefits to active involvement, i.e. gaining an information edge and being able to contribute to discussion.

Companies involved in the process of standardization are in a position to properly develop and successfully market their products and services right from the start. By co-shaping the underlying terms and conditions, they will be faster in developing follow-up products and thus stabilizing and enhancing their market positions in the long run.
