SNV

Information from the EU and WTO

According to agreements within the EU and EFTA as well as the WTO, member states are to notify the other member states of any plans to introduce technical regulations.

The SNV performs this duty to provide information on behalf of SECO, the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs. The platform the SNV uses to this end is the Swiss information centre for technical rules (switec), which publishes Swiss and foreign notifications on the internet, including titles and content abstracts. Interested groups are invited to make comments, and the SNV will provide full texts of the drafts upon request.

Here are some examples of the over 3000 notifications published annually:

  • requirements for protective goggles for motorcyclists in the UK;
  • requirements for gaming machines in the Netherlands;
  • testing methods for inline skates in Korea;
  • alternative testing methods for cosmetics in France.

Visitors to our website are enabled to make themselves acquainted early on with regulations about to be introduced in their sales markets.
