100 years and still going strong
And there it goes – our centenary year is history. In my view, the four events authentically and cost-effectively organized with great dedication by our employees were important highlights, and justly rewarded with nothing but positive feedback. This not only fostered team spirit but also consolidated people’s identification with their work at the SNV, and boosted our profile.

An inspiring change of scenery
We recently moved into a highly prestigious building where all employees of the SNV can work together on one storey. I believe this will result in fresh and valuable impetus within the world of standardization. Thanks to open-space workstations and offices with glass walls, barriers are broken down and a new perspective facilitated in terms of tackling future-relevant, overarching topics such as blockchain, the circular economy, artificial intelligence and smart technologies. 2020 will therefore offer plenty of space for progress.
After the standard is before the standard
Standardization is a never-ending process, and so we find ourselves constantly advancing into new and innovative territory. To ensure that our voice continues to carry great weight, we emphasize a clear focus in our work – we want:
- to incorporate the digital transformation within processes, products and services;
- more closely involve the young generation in standardization;
- strengthen the role of voluntary, private regulation and use this to support state regulation;
- facilitate a leading role for Switzerland in standardization at the European and international level.
Partnerships as the recipe for success
100 years of effective work is an achievement only made possible by collaborating with experts, companies and partners. The justification for our existence is standardization and nothing but standardization! Experts play a fundamental role in this. As a service provider, the SNV makes it possible for Switzerland to influence standardization at a European and international level via our experts. In turn, the users of these standards are helped to benefit from such expertise and manage their companies efficiently and in line with the respective requirements. The department heads represent a central pillar in providing competent operative support to the topic-specific areas. And so I thank you all for your loyalty and commitment. I look forward to the future, in which we will forge Switzerland’s strong position together.
