Urs Fischer joins the Executive Board of the European Committee for Standardization (Comité Européen de Normalisation – CEN)

Urs Fischer, CEO of the Swiss Association for Standardization (SNV), was elected to the Executive Board of the European Committee for Standardization (Comité Européen de Normalisation – CEN) at the ordinary General Assembly on 25 November 2021. Urs Fischer will join the board on 1 January 2022.

At the 56th ordinary General Assembly of the European Committee for Standardization (Comité Européen de Normalisation – CEN), Urs Fischer was elected as a new member of the Executive Board for the next two years. He replaces Dr Elisabeth Stampfl-Blaha, Managing Director of Austrian Standards, who stepped down from her position on the board.

He has worked in the standardization industry for over 20 years, and is also a member of several standardization organizations in Switzerland and other countries. Urs Fischer has been CEO of the Swiss Association for Standardization (SNV) since 2017. He is 61 years old and lives in Zurich.

The CEN is an association that unites the standardization organizations of 34 European member states. The SNV is a founding member of the CEN. There are now four women and eight men on the 12-member board. With the election of Urs Fischer to the Executive Board, the SNV will now be more directly involved in European standardization developments and be able to share its perspective as state that is not a member of the EU or EEA.
